The assignments are designed to replicate the scenarios that student scold find themselves in when working in this sector.
Students are encouraged to complete work experience in a relevant setting that links to the health and social care sector of work.
The general Thornleigh Sixth Form entry criteria will be applied.
The course is taught in six units over the two-year programme. Two externally assessed exam units and four internally assessed coursework units.

You will study the OCR Cambridge Advanced National in Health and Social Care and it is the Extended Certificate level qualification which is the equivalent to one A level. It is part of the new wave of Alternative Academic Qualifications (AAQ). Click here for the exam board specification.
There will be two externally assessed exams which are 90 mins in duration and each worth 60 marks. They will contain a mix of short answer and extended answer questions. You can re-sit the exam units up to two times before completing the course. The remaining four units are coursework based and will be assessed by your class teacher and then moderated by the exam board.
This course can help prepare you to move on to higher level courses at university as well as degree apprenticeships. Examples include nursing, midwifery, health science, paramedic science, public health, social work and allied health care roles.
