The course is the equivalent of one A Level. Throughout the course, you will study three mandatory units (one internally assessed and two externally assessed) and one optional unit (internally assessed).
Ideally, you will have studied GCSE music but this is not an entry requirement as long as you can play an instrument or sing. You will be expected to have instrumental lessons along side this course. This can be setup through our teachers who come in to school from Bolton Music Service.
You will study the following three mandatory units:
Unit 1 – Practical Music Theory and Harmony
Unit 2 – Professional Practice in the Music Industry
Unit 3 – Ensemble Music Performance
and one optional unit from the following list:
Unit 4 – Composing Music
Unit 5 – Music Performance Session Styles
Unit 6 – Solo Performance
Unit 7 – Improvising Music
This is a Level 3 Extended Certificate in Music Performance by Pearson. You will be assessed by completing four units, two externally assessed and two internally assessed.
This subject will give you the perfect skills and knowledge to study a music degree at University level. In terms of future career opportunities, music can lead to becoming a sound engineer, DJ, session musician, music producer, music teacher, recording artist and many other careers in the music industry.
Practice your instrument every single day so you are confident when the course begins in September.
